This exhibition honors the history of the Hartford-Tandstad Collection, recently gifted to the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art, and its arrival in Fort Collins; a bit of a Hollywood story. Torleif Tandstad and Larry Hartford were art appraisers by profession. Through their Los Angeles firm they worked for and befriended many of Hollywood’s greatest stars and even appraised the extensive art collection at Paramount Studios. In fact, their settling in Fort Collins was due, in great part, to the suggestion of their good friend, legendary dancer, and film star Gene Kelly. In this exhibition we look at Hollywood memorabilia and at examples from their collection of works on paper that relate to literature, myth, and the dramatic arts.
