As part of the museum’s ongoing commitment to responsible stewardship of the collection, conservation efforts are always underway.
Some of the works in this collection have prior restorations that may obscure the hand of the artist. The Gregory Allicar Museum of Art, hopes—as finances and time allow—to conserve these works in order to reflect the artists’ intent. The appearance of these works may change over time as the museum is able to fund conservation treatments.
A list of recently conserved works is available here. Learn more about the conservation of a 17th-century portrait of Louis XIII of France by Frans Pourbus, the Younger (1569–1622) here.
