BRAINY 2021 Visual Art - Gregory Allicar Museum of Art

Students who enrolled in ART 326 Art Education Studio were the student tour-guides for the Visual Arts session of BRAINY. The student educators designed and produced interpretive video tours for the museum’s temporary and permanent exhibitions for the fourth-graders. To design and lead the tours, student educators were trained to apply Visual Thinking Strategies and other interpretive skills. The student educators also developed art hands-on art activities based on the museum collections or exhibitions to help young visitors strengthen their understanding and connections with the introduced artworks.

In 2021, we collaborated with Professor Silvia Soler Gallego and her students at CSU Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Professor Gallego produced a Spanish version for one video clip and the art activity related the video clip in each group tour.

The Spanish translations have been completed by the students of the Advanced Spanish Translation and Interpreting course, taught by Professor Silvia Soler Gallego. These students worked collaboratively to make the original English videos created by the Art Education students accessible to Spanish-speaking students and learners of Spanish. The translators are, in alphabetical order: Annika Bjorkman, Mario Cardoza Reyes, Annie DeFreitas, Izzy Dodge, Jennifer Gutiérrez, Alondra Ortiz, Max Post, Jay Prather, Sarahy Quintana Tejo, Kati Roan, Edwin Reyes, Christopher Saltus, Karla Santillán, and Abby Vander Graaff.

La traducción al español ha sido realizada por los estudiantes del curso Traducción e interpretación avanzada del español impartido por la profesora Silvia Soler Gallego. Los estudiantes de este curso trabajaron de manera colaborativa para que los vídeos originales en lengua inglesa que habían sido creados por los estudiantes de Educación Artística fueran accesibles para los estudiantes que tienen el español como lengua materna y aquellos que están aprendiendo esta lengua.
