The biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE) brings outstanding examples of international poster design to Colorado State University’s campus every other year. Presented in conjunction with the Colorado State University Department of Art and Art History, the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art highlights the work of a selected honor laureate in the museum’s Works on Paper Gallery.
This year, the 22nd CIIPE Honor Laureate is Taiwanese designer Apex Lin.
Join us for an artist talk by Apex Lin in the University Center for the Arts’ Organ Recital Hall, followed by an opening reception for the 22nd CIIPE Honor Laureate exhibition.
Free and open to all.
Apex Lin currently serves as Chair Professor of Asia University, President of Taiwan Design Alliance, Founding President of Taiwan Cultural and Creative Industry Association, and Project Director of Taiwan Ministry of Education’s Programs, “Encouraging Students Participating in International Design Competition” and “Taiwan International Student Design Competition.” Previously, he was at National Taiwan Normal University, where he served variously as Professor of Department of Visual Design, Director of Department of Fine Arts, Director of the Cultural & Creative Industries Center, and Vice President of the University. He has been honored with the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA) Achievement Award, the ICOGRADA Education Award, the Red Dot award for communication design, and Taiwan’s National Award for Literature and Arts.
Lin has gained worldwide recognition for his posters and is responsible for the visual identities of some of China’s biggest companies. He established the Taiwan Image Poster Design Association in 1990 and just a few years later was listed among the top twelve corporate identity designers in Asia by New DECOMAS. In 2003, Phaidon Press rated him one of the top 100 graphic designers in the world. The following year Apex received the First Outstanding Award of Commercial Creativity by the Chinese Ministry of Economic Affairs. His distinctive designs draw heavily on Taiwan’s flora, fauna and geography.
The 22nd CIIPE Honor Laureate exhibition and all related programming is presented in collaboration with the Department of Art and Art History.
