The Gregory Allicar Museum of Art is a public collection held by the people of Colorado for the benefit of people everywhere. Until recently, the museum relied exclusively on gifts to grow the collection, and donations of art or funds in support of purchases remain the primary means for collection growth. However, recognizing the underrepresentation of Black, Indigenous, and other artists of color in the collection, the museum has begun earmarking funds for select purchases each year, two of which are on display in this exhibition.

GAMA also serves the Colorado State University community. Since the museum is dedicated to this educational vitality, New Acquisitions is particularly important for keeping CSU faculty up-to-date on collections-based teaching opportunities.

Ultimately, New Acquisitions symbolizes the museum community’s incredible generosity. To learn more about the art in GAMA’s collection and for information on credit lines, please visit our online portal at claembark.libarts.colostate.edu.
