In conjunction with the 17th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE), the University Art Museum presents a solo exhibition of the poster works of Honor Laureate Leonardo Sonnoli. Each biennial year, the CIIPE spotlights an artist with a lifetime record of excelling in the poster medium as Honor Laureate. This year’s honoree, Leonardo Sonnoli, is a partner in the Tassinari/Vetta design studio in Trieste, Italy. The graphic artist is involved with a variety of design applications, ranging from posters and book design, to exhibition graphics. Among his major works are designs for the visual identity of the 50th Venice Biennale and for the archeological exhibitions at the Colosseum in Rome. A much sought after designer, Sonnoli has worked with clients as varied as the New York Times, the archeological sites in Pompei, GQ Magazine, and Naples Theatre Festival. This exhibition focuses on Sonnoli’s spare and elegant work in poster design. A longtime participant in the CIIPE program, Sonnoli’s work was honored with juror prizes and honorable mentions in the 2001 and 2009 poster biennials.
